US bourses fell amid disappointing macro statistics

Key U.S. stock indices declined after the release of weak economic data. Dow Jones losses amounted to 0.06%, S&P 500 0.17%, Nasdaq 0.55%.

On Wednesday, the United States GDP data for the fourth quarter was released. This indicator increased by 3.2%, which was a more sluggish growth than in the same period of 2022 (3.3%) and the third trimester (4.9%).

At this point, investors are more interested in the Personal Consumption Expenditure Index, statistics for which are expected today, notes Investing.com. Being the Fed's preferred inflation gauge, it may influence its plans for the key rate.

The possibility that the regulator may continue to keep the rate at a high level, still gives market participants anxiety. They will pay attention to the speeches of the central bank's representatives, scheduled for the coming days; earlier some of its members have already made it clear that a hasty transition to a rate cut should not be expected.
