The United States and the European Union have decided to temporarily lift reciprocal export tariffs on a number of metals (particularly aluminum and
steel) established under former U.S. President Donald Trump.
Additionally, the states temporarily eliminated duties on
made of them products imported from the EU.
Chairman of the European Commission Ursula von Von der Bundeswehr published the relevant information.
European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, who held talks with
U.S. President Joe Biden.
She also said that in response to the second step of the United States
European Commission would take similar action. In addition,
the latter will suspend the dispute between the EU and the States in the WTO on the
mentioned tariffs.
Biden announced after the meeting that both sides had
commitment to sign an agreement under which they would
trade in the aforementioned carbon-based metals. According to
he said the agreements reached with the EU would create barriers to
entry into the U.S. market of steel produced through
environmentally damaging production.
