Expected events of the week

This week, investors are expecting the release of inflation statistics, reports from major players in the technology sector and a number of macroeconomic data. The rally in the U.S. stock market probably ended amid pessimism of players about the timing of the key rate cut, Investing.com writes.

Today is expected the publication of data on business activity index (PMI) in the United States, Europe and the United Kingdom. Investors will pay close attention to them in search of signs of strengthening inflation - PMI for the services sector will be of particular importance, the portal notes.

During the week, four IT giants will release their financial results for the first quarter - Alphabet, Tesla, Microsoft and Meta (banned in Russia). Analysts are expecting weaker results - their forecast is for a 2.9% year-over-year total return for S&P 500 companies versus an earlier estimate of 5.1% (data provided by LSEG).

One of the expected events is the Bank of Japan meeting on Friday - players hope to get clues as to when the next rate hike will follow.
