The Fed has decided not to change the key rate

After the meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Federal Reserve decided to leave its key rate unchanged. Thus, the latter remains in the range of 2.25 - 2.5% per annum. The Fed's decision met the expectations of experts and market players, who, as previously reported, did not foresee an increase. According to Interfax, the Fed is not planning to increase the rate this year, and it intends to raise it no more than once next year. This differs from the regulator's original plans, which in December considered two hikes this year. The Fed also announced how it plans to further reduction of assets - since May this process will slow down, it will continue until September. Meanwhile, the US Central Bank's expectations regarding global economic growth worsened - the new projected value is 2.1% (for comparison, the previous value was 2.3%). The inflation forecast was also revised and now stands at 1.8%, which is 0.1% lower than the earlier forecast.
