Stocks and bonds started the year with record declines

Stocks and bonds in the first week of the year showed an unprecedented decline - the capitalization of global markets decreased by a record $3.18 trillion. Such a decline has never been observed before, Profinance.ru reports.

According to Bloomberg, the capitalization of the MSCI ACWI index, which includes large and medium-sized companies from developed and developing countries, has fallen by $1.5 trillion since the beginning of the year. The same indicator for the global stock market has fallen by $2 trillion, bonds - by $1 trillion. For the seven leading IT giants, this resulted in losses totaling more than $400 billion.

Tightening financial conditions contributed to the negative dynamics. The Goldman Sachs index measuring them showed a significant growth during the week, which signals their deterioration. At the same time, the fall of world markets, in its turn, aggravates the situation. Traders have become less confident that the Federal Reserve will reduce the rate in March - the probability of this has fallen from 80% to 62%, the portal writes.
