Recession in Europe will continue during 2023 – experts

Recession in Europe will continue throughout next year, according to economists surveyed by the Financial Times. It is already observed in the region, almost all respondents (about 90%) stated. Thus they noted that in 2023 the energy crisis will continue to influence on the European countries, the portal of profinance.ru referring to the edition.

The region faced a massive energy crisis after the refusal of gas imports from Russia. This fall, European countries have managed to replenish their gas storage, which contributed to the still present Russian supplies and moderately cold autumn temperatures, but next year it will be harder to do due to the complete cessation of imports from Russia, experts say. As warned in S&P Global Ratings and ING Bank, the winter of 2023 will be more difficult than the current one.

Inflation in Europe next year, according to the ECB forecast, will average 8.4%, which is significantly higher than last year's estimates.
