OpenAI researchers warn of dangerous progress in AI – Reuters

OpenAI researchers have discovered dangerous advances in AI that could pose a threat to society. They warned the board of directors about it in writing, which was followed by the swift resignation of the company's CEO Sam Altman, Reuters reported, citing two sources familiar with the matter.

According to their information, the letter was not the only factor contributing to the resignation. The board was also concerned that advances in artificial intelligence were being put on a commercial footing too soon because their implications were not yet fully known.

This suggests that the AI field, despite its high popularity with investors, is capable of detecting high volatility - negative AI events could carry serious weight and cause a strong negative reaction in the stock market.

Meanwhile, the head of OpenAI has by now been reinstated, Reuters reports.
