NASDAQ results at the beginning of the year were the worst in 14 years

The NASDAQ lost 11% in January, its worst start to a year in 14 years. By comparison, in the first 14 trading sessions of the 2008 crisis, it fell 13.6%, but according to Market Watch, the current results for the same period broke that record. So far, the NASDAQ has fallen 13% from its all-time high of November 2021. If the decline continues and reaches 20%, it will mean the entry of the index in the "bearish " phase, experts say. Taking into account the current economic conditions and sentiment on the platforms the negative dynamics of the technological index might persist - the prospects of tightening of the Fed's monetary policy amid soaring inflation instills fear into the market participants. NASDAQ dynamics in the new year at the moment is the worst among three main US stock indices - for comparison, S&P 500 since the beginning of January lost 7.73%, Dow Jones - 5.7%.
