Gas production in the U.S. dropped to a record low as natural disasters hit

The volume of gas production in the United States showed a record drop amid the snowstorm that broke out in the country, Bloomberg reported. Its reduction on Friday compared to the previous day was the most significant for more than 10 years - it reached 10%, the equivalent of 280 million and more m³.

According to the agency, as a result of the impact of the elements, which affected much of the country, the temperature in key areas of production fell below zero, including in Texas, which is a major producer of gas in the United States. Liquids in pipelines were frozen and wells had to be shut down as a result. At the same time, domestic gas demand in the country rose to its highest level in almost 3 years.

The unusually cold temperatures put a strain on the power grid, leading to one of the worst power outages in the U.S. in several years, massive flight cancellations and the closure of New York State's international airport until at least Monday.
