Europe prepares for a trade war with the U.S.

A trade war between the United States and Europe is unlikely to be avoided, writes "InoSMI" referring to the German edition WirtschaftsWoche. The U.S.-EU Council on Trade and Technology (CTT) will meet today, but it is unlikely that a consensus will be reached on the subsidies by the United States to its own companies, which disadvantage European companies by forcing them to move production to the United States.

The U.S. Maryland was chosen as the venue for the meeting. U.S. President Joe Biden has repeatedly demonstrated to Europe in recent months that the CTT format is insignificant for the United States - he told EU authorities that he could not consistently engage so many ministers in it, because it would distract them from their work. According to Brussels, the United States was initially not interested in cooperation in the trade sphere, the publication cites unnamed sources. At today's meeting, Europe intends to oppose U.S. policies that promote a massive outflow of its businesses to the United States.
