Economists rush to expect a ‘miracle’ from AI – The Economist

Many economists expect explosive growth in the world economy thanks to the development and widespread introduction of artificial intelligence into various aspects of society. However, this requires significant financial investment, for which the bulk of companies are not yet ready, Profinance.ru writes with reference to The Economist.

The widespread use of advanced technologies requires high expenditures on software, equipment, factories, embedding AI in production processes - in fact, there should be an investment boom. However, at present, it is mainly large technology corporations at the level of Microsoft that are investing in the development of artificial intelligence. The rest of the S&P 500 is planning to increase spending by only 2.5% this year, and if we look at U.S. business as a whole, this figure is even lower. The capital investment indicator from Goldman Sachs shows a 4% decline, and US companies, despite the excitement around AI, are in no hurry to raise spending on information technology, the publication states.
