Citigroup downgraded its rating on U.S. stocks

Citigroup revised downward its rating of U.S. stocks, assigning them a neutral status instead of a high one. According to the bank, actively growing securities are waiting for a correction. In addition, the revaluation contributed to the probability of recession in the United States in the last quarter, reports profinance.ru.

In the first half of the year, the U.S. stock market saw an active growth of securities of technology companies - NASDAQ index for this period added more than 30%, which, as explained in the Bank, was associated with the excitement around AI. Now that the latter has weakened, the shares are waiting for a correction, analysts warn. Instead of US ones, they recommend buying European ones, which they believe are largely oversold. The bank itself has bought a number of cyclical stocks in the region and expects growth in the European materials sector - in its estimation, it has prospects as China's economy may show a bounce.
